Open Question: Is burning newspaper and paper illegal?

Is playing with flame illegal in canada? For example BURNING paper, leaves, and twigs. And having lit up candles.. We are not damaging property, just burning stuff on a CEMENT floor at a park.. The floor can't burn and we're not lighting up things that are part of the park or damaging property/vandalizing.. Is it illegal?

Open Question: What to do after an accident?

Today, an car accident happened to me in a parking lot. I think, I was not wrong but the other driver didn't agree. I told her to call the police, so that the police should decide who was right. The police came and he asked me and her about the incident. Then he told me, that in case of a parking lot accident it is mostly 50%-50%. But he didn't show me what he wrote in his report. After asking him if I shouldn't sign the report, he told me "no". He gave me also every the contact informations of himself and the other driver's. He told that the other driver will not go to the insurance. Since I'm a newcomer to Canada since 4 years, and unfortunately do not know this nice of accident procedures yet, my question is, how I should treat after an accident and what is the best thing to do? And if it's the correct procedure what the policeman did? PS: I'm living in Halifax, Nova Scotia and I have my car insurance. Thanks, I don't have any damage in my car, the other car has a very tiny damage. This is not a real accident. Therefore, I didn't think this should go through our insurances, and at the end we could solve it, which unfortunately didn't happen. I also didn't want to pay the other driver some money, even though it was a tiny amount, because I wasn't guilty. This is why my insurance company didn't arrive into my mind.. The police did also neither show me the accident report nor let it sign by me. Is this normal?

Voting Question: What should a Canadian theme park look like?

In the USA, I'm sleepy of the fake Canada exhibits like the Epcot middle in Florida where Canada looks like a medieval castle with a Mercantile store with fake-drawn totem poles and lumberjacks. This is like making a USA themepark with a picture of a Yanki Duddle riding a pony with a macaroni cap. I think I'd rather look a more educated Canada theme park with a ride/exhibit for each province. Would this be a good set-up? Quebec section- Bohemmes Carnaval and a funicular ride, a poutine stand, historical film about Jacques Cartier Ontario - CN Tower, Parliament Hill....ice skating rink machine-frozen shaped like Rideau Canal, Niagara Falls remake, Store: Tim Hortons Coffee, Jersey Milk Bars and buttertarts and maple syrup Manitoba - we would take the Golden Boy Winnipeg Statue, a modeled CN Rail car, and a square field with Yellow Poppy seeds.......a film about the Metis struggle and the Winnipeg Strike Saskatchewan - We would have a panoramic 360 film dedicated to Tommy Douglas, a film to honour the RCMP in training, a film showing Medicine cap, Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert. Alberta - We would have a huge oil rig and a tiny version of Calgary's Luge....3D movie of the Canadian Rockies BC - Clearly the spirit of the 2010 Olympic games brought to life.....and displays of Vancouver artists, pictures of the beautiful ecosystem on the pacific coast Yukon - Remake of Dawson City.... you receive the point..... couldn't there be a park like this to feature Canada in proper light, historically, multiculturally, scenically? every that

Resolved Question: Why do people say that the US is the most racist country on earth when it is clearly not?

As a guy who has been to Australia, UK, France, Japan, India (I am Indian), Sweden, and Italy I can say that America is definitely the least racist country on earth, only Canada can compare. I live in the deep south currently, even though I have seen some racist insults fly, none of them have been serious and this part is supposed to be the most racist part of America. In the Northeast and out west, racism just doesn't happen as much and usually the people keep the racism to themselves. When I went to the following countries, here were my experiences. 1. Australia - saw someone toss a beer bottle towards my dad's direction and told him "go back to your possess country you curry muncher". Then some lady called the police on us when we were jogging in the park, a lot of the White Australians froze up and gave us mean stares. 2. UK - always heard racism from the Whites on one side and on the other side my fellow Indians were racist to me because I was not raised in the UK like they were. I was not even able to attend the majority White schools there and there were little to no minorities at those schools. My uncle lives there and he was once beaten because his daughter would not date this White guy there, the people beat him because he would not let his daughter "move up in society". In France and Italy it was not that bad but in those two countries over the racism was certainly gift. In the US I do not run into racism and I have been accepted for who I am. I have Indian family members in other countries and they complain of discrimination and racism, some beg my parents to let them stay in America. So, why do people even say it is the most racist country? I know we have had a racist history but haven't every nations?

Resolved Question: Grounded. Reasons listed. Is this right?

my mom is extremely protective and im a responsible 15 year old. if anything were to happen i'm very sure i'd knwo what to do. it drives me nuts. i never receive grounded. but just tonight i went to hang out with my 2 guy friends, they wanted to go uptown at 8:00PM (its March and in Canada, it still gets dark earlier) i told my mom we were going to the park across the road from my home. instead i turned the corner and i receive at least 10 missed calls from her and shes freaking out and leaving voice mails. i texted her and told her i was stopping at my cousins home to return her book when i actually walked around the block. my mom is now driving around town to look for me. so me and my friends go back to my home and my mom drives up and says how im grounded and they have to go. they left and since she works tomorrow, she said i have to go to work with her because she wont know what im doing. she works til 3PM and i snooze in til 1 or 2. what can i do thats so bad in an hour? anyways please tell me if my mom is over protective and i should deal with it. or things i can say to her. and my other friends wanna hang out, should i arrive out throught to window tonight and hang out with them?

Right now Im studying in Vancouver. Im planning on relocating to Toronto in August. I wanted to ask are there any nice Black neighborhoods in Toronto? I've heard that Jane/Finch, Regent Park, Rexdale, Lawrence Heights, and Scarborough every have Black populations. But are these areas ghetto and needy or are they nice livable communities? I don't mean to be stereotypical, but thats how some areas in the states are. Also, I know there aren't any Black colleges in Canada, but are there any schools in Toronto or elsewhere in Canada that have a good number of Black students and Black professors? Would Halifax, NS be better for this?

Voting Question: How to pass my drivers license G2 test..!? NEED LOTS OF ANSWERS PLEASE.?

I live in Canada (Toronto, Ontario) I'm 20 years old turning 21 in May. I have my G1 license and I am going to receive my G2 next month, I dont like driving on the highway I never did and I dont really plan to when I receive my possess car.. I am a pretty good driver on the streets and I never steer over the driving limit maybe below but Never over. I am not that great at parking.. but that I could learn my mom said she would put me on her insurance or I could simply receive my possess. but I really want to pass my G2 and I know I have the potential to pass it but I'm afraid I might do a thing or two wrong and I really want my G2 so I can receive my car, is there a way I could give the driving teacher alittle extra cash after the test and so he could pass me so I dont have to do my test again.. I will do the test as I am suppost to but I will pay him extra just so he can pass me (alot of my friends have done it and are great drivers) but if my instructor does tell me that I need Serious practice then I will take it from there and not do it but if he says I am decent enough to steer on the streets then I will pay extra just to receive my G2.

Resolved Question: Which car is better to use for my G driving test in Canada?

I have a G test coming up in a few days and I'm really nervous. I already had one last summer and failed and the driving instructor made me feel so nervous because she yelled at me and spazzed like an idiot because I was driving just a tiny bit below the speed limit. Anyways, I used a tiny, old car last time and was thinking of using my SUV this time. My boyfriend feels that it is much better if I rent a driving instructor's car and use that for my test. He feels as if I will have an easier time parallel parking and that people will yield and slow down quicker for me when they look the driving school sign on the car. Do you think it's better if I use the driving instructor's car for every of these reasons or would I be better off in my SUV? Thanks!

My pal lived in Toronto and he got a parking ticket when was in Washington DC recently with a fine of $ 250 as parking in snow emergency road- a lot of cars were parking there and he even paid the parking meter- but didnt notice that snow emergency sign far away. He even checked with a guy who was parking if it's ok to park there and got the answer yes, but then receive the ticket. Want to know if he needs to pay the tickete- again he lives in Toronto, Canada, don't know if there is any agreement between dc and toronto.

Resolved Question: WHy do people think that Canada is such a heavy favourite over the USA in the Women's Finals?

I think it could go either way....sure, Canada has won 7 of the last 10 games but the USA has won the last two World Championships. Why do people think Canada has a walk in the park for the Gold here when they will have a battle on their hands? Who wins? Score? Kowalski.......because I AM CANADIAN! I can also look the forest for the trees. Let's put it this way.......if the Men's Final ends up being the same as the Women's Final......IMO it is VERY unlikely that the USA Men have a shot in Hell.....but the Women are closely matched I think! For those of you who dont know, an orca whale has killed 3 people. THE SAME WHALE!!! I just read the news story and it says the whale killed somone in Canada, somone else, and now, the trainer in San Diego CA. If an animal kills a person, shouldnt they be put to death? Thats what they do with bears in national parks, so why shouldnt they do that with this whale? if they had put this whale to death after the first killing, the other 2 would not have happened. so why is this any different than a bear in the park? its not. so what do you think of this? ps. i know that the autopsy said that the man is Cali probably died from the icy water, but also, there were bite marks on him, which means the whale bit the man!!!! thanks! Resolved Question: Best route from Mount Rushmore to Yellowstone National Park?

I'm planning a major roadtrip this august for my family (2 adults, 16 and 10 yr old kids) that goes through many northern US areas and western Canada. However, I need some help along this part: 1. Chicago to Sioux Falls 2. Sioux Falls to Mount Rushmore/Rapid City 3. Rapid City to Red Lodge, MT 4. Red Lodge to West Yellowstone 5. West Yellowstone to Helena, MT 6. Helena, MT to Edmonton, AB Now, from Rapid City, it's a 7 hour steer to Red Lodge. The reason I wanted to cease in Red Lodge is since it's a close entrance to Yellowstone Park, but arriving in the evening means I won't receive to take advantage of the sights of Beartooth Highway. So by stopping overnight, I would be able to travel the route in daylight, and still have time to tour Mammoth Springs. I'd then like to make my way over to West Yellowstone and stay a night there. The following morning, I'm hoping to cover the Old Faithful Geyser and steer over to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. I think I should be able to cover both these activities by 5pm if I leave hotel early morning (9am). I'd then steer upto Helena, MT (5 hours from the site). MY QUESTIONS- Do you think this is a good plan? I plan on spending 2 full days touring only the major points of interest in Yellowstone, as I have limited time. Does my plan allow me to cover these 4 places well enough (assume both days I leave as early as 9am). I read its about an hour and a half between locations (I said them in the order I'd visit them). Also, are there any points I missed that would be well worth an additional night? every accomodation, food, route, time, and other recommendations are greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time :)

Resolved Question: Need Help Planning Roadtrip Through Northern America?

Hi everyone, My family is planning a roadtrip this August that will take us from Toronto through to Vancouver, with many stops along the way in north central USA and western Canada. Could you guys that are familiar with the following states recommend some key points of interest: -North Dakota -South Dakota [Mt Rushmore/Badlands] -Montana [Glacier National Park/Going to the sun road] -Wyoming [Yellowstone National Park] -Idaho -Washington -Alberta [Edmonton/Rocky mountains] -British Columbia [Vancouver area] -Illinois [Chicago area] -Minnesota [Minneapolis] Some areas I've heard are must stops are listed in brackets, but I'm still unclear on some locations, and possibly how much time I should spend in each area. I plan to steer mainly from Chicago through I-90, and up into Alberta on I-15. On my return, I'm either looking at returning on I-90 or I-94. I have a max of 3 weeks to spend, so I'd adore to visit the major tourist spots before looking into smaller stops. Here is my full route so far: 1. Toronto to Chicago 2. Chicago to Mount Rushmore/Badlands/Rapid City (via Sioux Falls) 3. Rapid City to Yellowstone National Park 4. Yellowstone National Park to Calgary 5. Alberta Circle (Calgary to Edmonton to Jasper to Banff) 6. Banff to Vancouver 7. Vancouver to Seattle 8. Seattle to Glacier National Park 9. Glacier National Park to Fargo, ND (via Bozeman, MT) 10. No way can any of the other skaters top that. This wasn't no Fluffy Duffy Lovey Dovey skate that seems very unreal and insincere. You every know, one of those fake adore skates that makes us every sick and sleepy of always seeing the same lying performance. They didn't have that BS romance but expressed themselves more like siblings, together since the beginning, skating against the world. - If they lose than the judges are out of touch with how the real world likes things and Canada is cheating.

Voting Question: What is the best trampoline?

I want a 2 ply trampoline. I am a freestyle mogul skier but am looking to do huge tricks including doubles on it so i need every out. Price is not an obstacle. I live in the USA (Utah). I can buy it from Canada if necessary. Please tell me what trampolines the Utah Olympic Park (UOP), the Canadian freestyle team, the American freestyle team, they used in the Beijing olympics or anything. I REALLY want a two ply mat like they have at the UOP. I once again am in the USA. I have heard good things about backyard pro but it does not appear to be two ply. Tell me if I am wrong though. Resolved Question: Acura Integra, Did I get ripped off?

Hello. I've recently just purchased a 1997 Acura Integra Coupe. I payed $2700 CAD for it at an auction. At first I thought I received an amazing deal on the car due to the low odometer reading of 140k. At least 140k KM was what it described on paper. After I won the auction on the car, I took it out of the lot only to find out that this was made for Americans, and had 140k Miles. By the way, I live in Canada(for those who did not catch the "CAD"). The body is in pretty good condition, a few minor scratches (nothing too major). If I got it for cheaper, I wouldn't feel this agitated (I am a cheap bastard). Also seems to run fine. I was very displeased and now I'm wondering if I got a good deal, decent deal, or I just got ripped off? Also, it is registered in my province. A second opinion would give some reassurance. Thanks. PS. There was a viewing time during the auction but the cars were parked extremely close together and I could not look into the car. And due to unfortunate circumstances, I was somewhere else during the time of the auction and had someone stand in and bid on the car for me. If I saw the car was in miles, I would not have bought it unless it went below $2000. By the way, this car is an automatic.

kso, im thinking about getting a puppy (: i know that they're going to be alot of responsability, and can also cost alot, but i am still not sure what type of breed i should receive . Dont worry about the cost of food, leashes, bed, shots, vet, etc . its every covered(: Here is my lifestyle : - on weekdays dog may be alone for up to 6 hours a day. atleast 3 days, then 3 hours the next 2 . ( i might be getting one sometime around spring break, if not summer break, so then i can spend time with the puppy, potty train the puppy. & training the dog) - i like to run,have an active lifestyle, so yes , i would like the dog to also have an active life style (: ( but also, i'd like the dog to be cuddly at the end of the day (: . yup, i will walk the dog more than once a day . ( 2 + hours ) My place . - CLIMATE WHERE I LIVE : is hot summers, icy winters ( icy as in canada icy, haha (: ) - backyard : medium . The Dog Itself (preferably) . - preferably be a medium sized dog ( example : not as tiny as a chihuahua, not as big as a labrador. please no TOY breeds) . - a dog that does not shed alot, ( my mom does not want to have a dog that sheds alot since it conflicts with allergy problems , lol (: . ) - friendly towards other dogs and people (6yrs old + ) - enjoys running, going to the park . * in conclusion .. its my first time ever getting a dog, so you guys can go ahead & tell me about any breed that may be able to fit my lifestyle, pros and cons welcome :D . With trails like The Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia, or the Discovery Trail from Delaware to California, or even the Pacific Trail from Mexico to Canada. Well, I'll just give you a little bit of my background. I'm a 15 year old male, currently living in Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm in 8th grade, as I failed grade 7. My grades right now are pretty bad but I have decided that next year is when I'm going to completely focus on my schoolwork and nothing else. I'm an animal lover, no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing I always find myself observing animals, helping and feeding the strays, etc. Ever since I was around 8 years old I wanted to be a veterinarian, I spent most of my time in wildlife parks and at the zoo. But anyways, I've now chosen that I'm getting into either one of these jobs, there's nothing else that I'm interested in. So how would I go about getting into either one of these careers? What should I do such as volunteer work, and when High School comes along, what classes should I take? Majors in college, etcetera?

I'm going to New York City from Canada with my pal's family (they invited) and I'm wondering if they might have any big sales. We're going there for probably 3-4 days for mostly sight seeing and some shopping. We're probably gonna go to outlet stores. Plus any recommendations? We're gonna steer there and park the car at a hotel, then bus around. Is the bussing expensive in NYC? And any tips? First time going there. Although I'm not going with my family, is carrying a bundle of cash too dangerous? Like around... $500+ or I can ask their parents to keep it for me. Cause I need to pay my part for the hotels, tourist sites and food. Do you think the weather in NYC is going to receive better during march break? I'm probably going 14-16 or 17. Thanks!
